We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Medical Assistant to join our esteemed cardiology practice, serving the Dallas and Heath areas. This is a great opportunity to have a role in an outpatient environment with a friendly schedule supportive of work/life balance.

This position handles a variety of patient care activities including, but not limited to, accompanying patients to exam rooms, taking vitals, collecting patient history, assisting with procedures, prescription refills, prior authorizations, and patient callbacks regarding cardiovascular testing results, labs, etc.

We specialize in all aspects of cardiovascular care including coronary, vascular, structural, heart failure, electrophysiology, and preventive cardiology. Essential Functions:

  • Rooming patients, taking vitals, collecting patient histories, and completing medication reconciliation
  • Assisting in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of the providers
  • Updating and filing patients’ medical records
  • Relaying instructions to patients/families
  • Cleaning exam/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control
  • Restocking exam/procedure rooms
  • Prescription refills
  • Process prior authorizations and communicate approvals or denials to the patient or provider
  • Complete orders for imaging and labs as instructed by the provider
  • Patient call-backs as instructed by the provider regarding cardiovascular testing including stress tests, echocardiograms, and heart monitors
  • Other administrative duties as assigned as needed

 Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalency required
  • A Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program required
  • Experience working in a physician office is required; preferably experience in Cardiology, Vascular Surgery, and/or Primary Care
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • EMR experience also required; E-Clinical Works preferred
  • NCT preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of medical office management systems and procedures
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Social perceptiveness and service-oriented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills

Schedule: 

  • Monday-Thursday, 8:30AM - 5 PM, and Friday, 8:30AM - 3 PM. No weekends, holidays, or after hours.
