Medical Billing Customer Service Representative
We are seeking a full-time Medical Billing Customer Service Representative for our corporate office located in Dallas, Texas off 635 and Abrams.
Summary Description: A medical billing customer service representative is responsible for contacting patients to collect on outstanding accounts and balances. Any issues, trends, concerns, and suggestions should be communicated to leadership.

- Take and respond to a high volume of calls each day, providing required information to external agents and patients.
- Provide high-level customer service to patients and other clientele through incoming calls.
- Make outbound calls to patients to collect payments and assist the patients with establishing payment plans.
- Working with the patient or insurance representative to resolve any discrepancies, complaints, collections, payment plans, and itemized invoice.
- Provide callers with information regarding their statements, and copays, and ensure that any outstanding payments are communicated to them.
- Collect information regarding delinquent accounts, and make payment arrangements, while remaining within the parameters of facility protocols.
- Initiate claims, perform appropriate paperwork and documentation, and contact insurance companies regarding the statuses of unpaid or filed claims.
- Provide patients with information regarding services, rates, and billing matters, and ensure that any additional costs are also communicated to them.
- Follow up with patients to ensure that they pay their debts on time, providing them with easy payback options.
- Assist with the mailing of claims and correspondence as needed.
- Notify the billing supervisor of any inconsistencies, changes, or errors with payor activity.
- Handle company correspondence, both in bound and out bound. Utilize functional knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations and experience related to privacy laws, access and release of information.
- Attend required meetings and participates in training programs as required.
- Understand and adhere to HIPAA policies, procedures and regulations to ensure and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education: Associate’s degree preferred or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (customer service, medical billing, accounts receivable, insurance, or related duties) in healthcare required.
Requirements:
- Bilingual preferred but not required
- Professional phone etiquette and exceptional customer service
- Ability to handle high-volume and stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.
- Has the ability to multi-task and work independently while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
- Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism with a commitment to client/patient satisfaction.
Computer Skills:
- Proficient in MS Office software; particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Athena or eClinicalWorks (eCW) experience preferred
